OBRA is a physical and digital platform based in Malmö with the mission of mediating contemporary works of art to new and established audiences. The platform exhibits artworks and encourages the emergence of new knowledge and conversation about the works and the participating artists. This holistic approach has been the main motivation to start and run the project.

The exhibition program and editorial decisions don’t respond to national or geographical limits. However, art from the Nordic region and Latin America organically constitute the platform’s genetic and intellectual code.

OBRA’s goal is not exclusively commercial yet we are currently able to discern what matters to artists, audience and buyers. An outstanding group of private individuals, organisations, companies and art institutions like museums and public agencies have contributed to the existence and development of the gallery.

We have the capacity of facilitating transparent exchange operations with the purpose of contributing to the advancement of the arts. In its early stages the gallery claimed its origins as “post-alternative and interdisciplinary”, questioning and resisting conventional models.

We initiated activities in 2016 and in December 2017 the pratice became a formal limited company. OBRA was conceived and is directed by Tomás Giraldo-Feener and was co-founded by him and photographer Petra Bindel.
